How to select the right officiant for you.

By TWS | 04/26/2023

The couple begins planning the wedding attire, the wedding party, the flowers, the venue/location, the wedding cakes, the food, and so much more! Then we realize that we must select the right officiant for our ceremony. This is the individual that is going to “marry” us! These hints and recommendations will make the process of finding the ideal officiant for your event easier as the officiant is the one that can legally marry you, 1. Consult the pastor, priest, or rabbi at the church or other place of worship for information on the rules of the location. Are you a member of this religious house/church or has this stunning site been a dream of yours ever since you were a little girl? Before booking an outside officiant, ask them first! 2. Should I select a male or female officiant? Discuss your partner’s or fiancée’s preferences as well. Doesn’t that seem a little quaint? Keep in mind that the officiant will recite the vows to each of you in front of your guests. Decide if a man or female is more appropriate for you. In either case, a male or female officiant is there to recite the vows that focus on you! 3. How do I select if I know no one? Check out trustworthy websites like Tulsa Wedding Society, or inquire with family and friends to see if they recently attended a wedding and can recommend anyone. To find the person that best matches you, check out their websites, and reviews, and speak or meet with them first. 4. What should I bring up with the celebrant when we first meet? Learn about one another! Is the officiant curious about how you two met? Is the officiant speaking confidently or hesitantly with you? As you get to know one another, you’ll realize that you two have a unique “connection”! Inquire with the officiant about prior indoor or outdoor weddings they have officiated. If you’re unsure, tell the celebrant what you want to see in your wedding vows or, if they have any samples, ask. 5. But what if you want a relative or acquaintance to do the ceremony? Do they have any previous officiating experience? Are they authorized to officiate at lawful weddings by the state and have they received the necessary training? Will there be awkward moments at your wedding? Once upon a time, a father desired to officiate, but when he arrived at the altar, he was overtaken with emotion to the point where the attention was now on him as he had trouble saying the vows. After reading the vows, a couple decided against having their friend officiate because they were “canned” and did not reflect them as a couple or an individual. The vows were too personal when the friend modified them! When you are certain that this is the one, reserve the date with the officiant! However, don’t wait too long as they might already be scheduled since this officiant might be quite well-liked. Obtain a contract and pay the relevant fees. Officiants are legal representatives that want to marry you and be a part of this magical day as you join your lives together. Want an elite officiant, check out the link below! Featured Newson6 – Sharon Holm – Tulsa Wedding & Design

By TWS | 03/07/2023

One of Tulsa Wedding Society’s premiere wedding planners was featured on Channel 6 News on Six. Our very own Sharon Holm, of Tulsa Weddings & Design, met with Kaitlynn Deggs of Channel 6 and discussed the upcoming 2023 year. Below is a transcript of that featured story by Deggs with Sharon. Oklahoma Wedding Planners Prepare For Busiest Time Of Year ( OKLAHOMA WEDDING PLANNERS PREPARE FOR THE BUSIEST TIME OF THE YEAR Wedding planners are getting ready for what they say is the busiest time of year. The time between Thanksgiving and New Year is when the most engagements happen. That surge means wedding planners see more couples coming through their doors. “Typically next week is when we’ll see our busiest outpour when everybody is back to work, they have shared all the news with their friends and family, and now they’re ready to jump into the wedding planning,” said Sharon Holm, the Owner of Tulsa Weddings and Design. Holm said the first step of wedding planning should be getting the guest list nailed down. “Once you have that guest list made, then you have to talk to everyone who is going to be involved with the budget, and establish a budget that is fair, that you guys can work within,” said Holm. She said that even though many of the people who got engaged before the pandemic were married this year, some venues are still booked up. “If you are looking at a 2023 wedding date, please note that most Saturdays at venues have been reserved for a while, part of that is due to COVID, but also look at other dates of the week,” said Holm. “I didn’t think many people would come to a Wednesday wedding at noon, but they show up, and they come.” Holm also wants couples to consider how inflation could impact their big day, and to be prepared during their planning. “Travelling, having your guests come in, hotels, everything has increased, and does not look like it’s going to go down anytime soon,” Holm said. “Many prices will go up for 2023.” One of the best ways to tackle the rise in prices is to cut down the number of people who are on the guest list. “Don’t be afraid to make those hard choices and decisions to make sure your budget stretches that you want and that you have the wedding day you envision,” said Holm. While couples often feel a sense of urgency before the big day, Holm said to try to slow down and take it one step at a time and enjoy the process.

Savastano’s Pizzeria – Catering

By TWS | 01/15/2023

Savastano’s is turning 20! Our story begins: A dream of Frank’s since 1971, when he spent a few months assisting his cousins in opening their brand-new pizzeria on Chicago’s Southeast Side. There, he met Jane, his true love, and fell in love with pizza. Frank’s family relocated to Bixby in 1993 as a result of his tech work. He brought his passion for pizza along. Without Frank’s pizza pies, celebrations would not be complete. Frank chose to launch his pizzeria, Savastano’s in 2002. On January 17th, 2003, he inaugurated Savastano’s first facility at 111th and Memorial. Because of Frank’s passion for cooking and his family’s backing, the restaurant was consistently full. Savastano’s quickly outgrew their little hole in the wall in 2009, therefore, the new and current facility, which is a 3-floor building was designed at 106th and Memorial. On the first story, we have our bar, take-out section, and kitchen. On the second floor, we have our main dining room. On the third floor, we have extra seating that is available for public use which is often reserved for private events. With the assistance of their six children, Frank and Jane co-ran the business. Their operations manager was Jennifer, who was the oldest. The family business legacy continues with 13 grandchildren Frank sadly suffered a stroke and passed away in August of 2020. Since then, Jenny and Jane have carried out his vision and managed the business. What a great legacy to carry on! What are the great offerings from Savastano’s? Savastano’s has a lot to offer couples. Think about the events we can arrange for you, such your engagement party, wedding shower, and rehearsal dinner. Our third-floor private area is a wonderful location with seating for 60–70 people. It is fully equipped with a salad bar, audio and video hookups as well as private restrooms. For any event, including your wedding reception, we can even provide off-site catering. Pizzas, pastas, salads, and more are available. The combo of thin crust pizza, pasta, and salad is our most popular pick. We enjoy being able to make your special day personal with wonderful foods!
