Hi friends, Rene Punch here of Mom & Me Events! I can’t believe we’re already well into 2018! Time sure is flying. I love to predict what trends will be big in the wedding world for the upcoming year. I take inspiration from online resources, home décor trends and, of course, what my current clients are asking for. With that in mind, here’s what I think will be a few of the biggest wedding trends in 2018:

Hanging Floral Pieces

– Depending on your venue, the possibilities of hanging structures in the ceiling are sure to grab attention and add that lush detail you may be looking for in your design. They can be hung over the wedding cake, head table, or anywhere you want to make a statement. Consider using silk flowers; this helps with weight and cost and often the piece can be rented when using silks.

Metallic Accents

- Using various metallic vases, chargers, or votive candles can be a great metallic addition to your tablescape. Mercury glass has been around and I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon; however Copper is sure making a big statement.

Colored Candles

- Candles will always add such a cozy ambience to any wedding. But this year, instead of the standard white and ivory candles, I think couples will add a splash of color to their décor accents. Candles in striking colors on your tablescapes or peppered throughout the event space are such an easy way to add something unexpected to your décor.

Amaranthus – It’s back! Just another example of how trends can come back around. So many couples are asking to incorporate amaranthus in their décor. The cascading bloom gives floral pieces a lush feel and the bold color adds some interest.

– Lots of greenery adds a natural element and makes things feel very organic. Perfect for spring and summer weddings!
